Airport Academy offers free training courses for youngsters
Stansted Airport’s Employment and Skills Academy is offering free places on a vocational training programme for young people aged 16-18 who are not in employment, education or training.
Students will study for The Award in Retail Knowledge which covers a range of subjects including retail, customer service and sales. The course will also involve modules on preparing for employment, working as part of a team, CV writing and interview techniques.
Anita Garrard, manager of the Stansted Employment and Skills Academy, said:
“This is one of the only courses of its kind in the area, so the course is a brilliant opportunity for young people wishing to gain a qualification and then maybe embark on a career within the airport retail industry or find work in their local area.
“Stansted Airport is the biggest single site employer in the East of England, with around 11,000 people working here. It’s a wonderful place to work and has many opportunities for young people looking for a rewarding career.”
Students from Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire will also receive a free £50 travel card for travel to and from the airport to attend the course.
Due to many SACC members and non members taking their annual holiday, we regret to advise that we have had to postpone the Summer BBQ at the Lion and Lamb.
I would like to thank Mike Shields for his kind invitation and look forward to rearranging the event later in the year.
Don't forget, Mike offers a discount on food for SACC members, so take advantage in the coming months.
Situated on the B1256 at Little Canfield close to Stansted Airport, The Lion & Lamb offers the perfect venue to savour some first class food in an idyllic traditional setting. Owner Mike Shields and his team would like to invite you to sample some of their superb meals in their delightful restaurant open 7 days a week.
Now using his many talents Mike is able to offer high-quality food and wine with a professional, but relaxed friendly service.
Running alongside the restaurant, the bar is an ideal place to relax, unwind and socialise. The decor is classic traditional English with beautiful old blackened oak beams stretching out across the ceilings. In the Winter, you can cosy up around the huge fireplace at the end of the main bar and enjoy the kind of atmosphere you only find in a traditional English pub. The bar offers a wide selection of quality premium beers & spirits.
